A racetrack in Trois-Rivières

Two years after its closure, the racetrack of Trois-Rivières has been bought by "Le Club jockey du Québec". The club will own the racetrack on May 1st. This summer, the Club provides 10 racing programs, 40 programs next year and 2 big shows on 5 years. The mayor of Trois-Rivière belives that a racetrack will have a positive impact on the city. The fans of horse racing dream a lot. Trois-Rivières will be the only city to have a racetrack.

Absara

On this post a talk about my new mare. Her name is Absara and she have 14 years old. Absara is a registered Standardbred. When she was young, she made harness racing like those will be in Trois-Rivières. Absara have a lot of energy but she is very nice with us. When she is with Myrtille (my other horse), she is more dominant. Absara is red and she is wide, big and tall.

Falabella and Shetland

Falabella

The Falabella is the smaller horse in the world. It measures approximately 0.76 meter. They were found in Buenos Aires. They are delicate and courageous, but even if they are small, they are dominant. The Falabella is used as a pet or for harness.

Shetland 

The shetland measures approximately 1.02 meters.They are stubborn and independent.... They are really friendly with children. They are used as a pet, for harness and for saddle. Their colors will be black, bay, brown, grey and chestnut.

Bashkir Curly and Morgan

Bashkir Curly: 

This horse is intelligent and friendly. They can resist to snowstorm. Their coat is very curly and it is hypoallergenic. The Bashkir Curly has been found in Nevada in 1898.  It's a small horse and his body is like a Morgan.

Morgan:

The Morgan  is compact, has strong limbs, an expressive face and large eyes. The Morgan are bay, black or chestnut. The colors grey, palomino, roan are less common. They are small (14 or 15 hands).

Wild horses

The real wild horses no longer exist. The horses that we think wild are domestic horses returned to the wild. Of 60 million horses in the world, the wild horses are 350 000. Nevertheless this little number, many people talk of mass slaughter to control their population. They settled in fragile ecosystems which aren't adapted for them. Their overpopulation is threatening for the flora in extinction. They come in conflict with man who is always in search of new territories.

The story of MY old mare...

Toupie was a filly like other. She lived at Pont-Rouge and had a good owner. A day, someone bought Toupie, but her owner didn't know that its next owner would be careless. He gave only a square bale of hay each month. Toupie lived at St-raymond. Each year, her owner went at Pont-Rouge at full gallop. He tied her to a tree without food and water for all the Christmas Holidays.

One and a half year ago, someone called us to know if we wanted a poor mare... My father didn't want that her death be in fear and she can be a friend for my little filly (Myrtille). We knew it would be hard but gradually she regain more force. This summer a vet came to see Toupie... He told us that she had a cancer which degenerated very fast. August 22^th 2011, a vet came at my home and she had a beautiful death full of love.

Toupie was a mare out of the ordinary, with I had many wonderful moments. You are always in my

heart ! <3

In the Beauce

This summer, I went in Beauce with my friend for a week. We had a week only with horses. We cleaned them, and we had some hikes and aerobatics. We went to the rodeo St-Victor and we laughed with our new friends.

Some incidents:

• ·         Cindy : falling off of Chanel (aerobatics);
• ·         Eli, Jade and I : Put  an old bike helmet and go in a long hike;
• ·       Me:  Ill and blind horse = Do the hike afoot;
• ·         Me: Having a heat stroke and drink a Gatorade with a bad taste;
• ·         Eli : Eating golden toast with mayonnaise;
• ·         Me:  be crushed by a horse and having a purple foot;
• ·       Eli, Cindy, Ludo, Will and I: Take three hours to clean the stable due to a battle of straw
•       And more…! 

      This trip was memorable !
